BIOGRAPHY
Heinz S. Tesarek was born in Vienna in 1976.
In 1992 - at the age of 16 - he began to photograph war in nearby Croatia and Bosnia. In order to finance his travelling abroad he worked in a confectionery factory and as construction worker during school holidays.
After graduating at GLVA Vienna (Photography and Audiovisual Media) in 1995 he photographed first assignment for the "Austria Press Agency" and the "Contrast Photo Agency", which supported him fundamentally during first projects.
Soon afterwards he became a contract photographer with the Austrian weekly magazine "News". He continued to report on the wars in former Yugoslavia, produced features about street children in Russia, portrayed the "Clinton haters" in the USA, and covered various crises in Albania, Turkey, Cyprus, and Israel as well as the 2000 famine in Ethiopia.
In 2000 Heinz moved to Moscow, where he worked for the Getty Images editorial and corporate assignment division and the Anzenberger Agency.
He reported on the "War against Terror" in Afghanistan, the 2004 presidential elections in Russia, covered the events around the Beslan school hostage crises, and photographed various background stories in the Caucasus region. Another focuses were daily life stories in Siberia and reports on Russian "Oligarchs". In 2004 he reported on the Tsunami disaster in Thailand.
After his return to Vienna in 2005 he worked on numerous exclusive feature stories about celebrities. He also photographed books and brochures for international corporations.
Heinz is married, and father of two daughters. |
